Custom library and office millwork installation in a California home

The support that makes specifying and building custom cabinetry easier—samples, shop drawings, spec help, and collaboration.

Specifying and building custom cabinetry goes more smoothly when the shop shares information early and openly. PineWood Cabinets works as a fabrication partner to California architects, builders, and interior designers, and the resources below are the practical support we bring to a project—from first samples through final installation. We have built custom cabinetry as a design-build shop under one roof since 2006, licensed as a California contractor (CSLB #1095293).

Most of what follows is prepared for a specific project rather than pulled from a generic library, so the information you receive reflects what we will actually build. Everything here is available through a conversation—reach out and tell us what your project needs.

Approve on the real material

Finish & Material Samples

We prepare finish and species samples on the actual project material—not a generic chip—so the color, grain, and sheen you approve are the ones that reach the site. Samples support your design presentations and give clients something tangible to sign off on before production. Tell us the species, finish system, and target tone, and we will build samples to match.

From your drawings to buildable detail

Shop-Drawing Support

We produce shop drawings for your review and approval before fabrication, translating your plans and elevations into buildable detail with dimensioned reveals, profiles, and material transitions. This is where constructability questions surface and where we propose solutions that honor the design rather than value-engineer it away. You review and mark up; nothing is cut until the drawings are approved. See our process for how this fits the broader timeline.

Complete the section with confidence

Spec Assistance

Assembling a millwork or cabinetry section is easier with the shop at the table. We help you call out construction type, species and cut, substrates, profiles, finish systems, and hardware so the specification is complete and unambiguous. Where a section is still open, we advise on options suited to the room and budget. For the technical foundations, our cabinetry specifications reference lays out how our work is built and what a complete spec should include.

Available on request. The following are prepared for a specific project rather than offered as generic downloads:

  • CAD & Revit blocks suited to your scope and detailing.
  • Finish schedules reflecting the species and systems specified.
  • Spec sheets for construction, materials, and hardware.
  • Physical samples on the actual project material.

Request any of these through our contact page with your project details, and we will prepare and send what you need.

Confirmed conditions, clean installs

Site Visits & Field Measures

We conduct field measures and site visits at the right milestones—verifying conditions before fabrication and coordinating installation with your team and the other trades on site. Accurate field dimensions are what separate cabinetry that fits cleanly from rework after delivery, and we treat that coordination as part of the job rather than an afterthought.

Bring us in early

Design Collaboration

The most useful resource we offer is a maker at the table during design. Involving us early means constructability input, budget-informed guidance, and material and finish direction while changes are still inexpensive. We tailor how we work to each partner—whether you are an architect protecting a detail, a custom home builder coordinating a schedule, or an interior designer realizing a vision. Standards for architectural woodwork are published by the Architectural Woodwork Institute, and we build to that level of rigor.

Common questions from our trade partners

Trade Resource FAQs

Do you provide CAD or Revit blocks and finish schedules?

Yes—CAD and Revit blocks, finish schedules, and spec sheets are available on request for a specific project. Rather than maintain a generic download library, we prepare these to suit the actual scope so the information you receive reflects what we will build. Reach out through our contact page with your project details and we will send what you need.

Can we get physical finish and material samples?

Yes. We prepare finish and species samples on the actual material for review and approval, and we can provide samples to support your design presentations. Because we sample on the real species and finish system, what you approve is what gets built.

Do you produce shop drawings for review before fabrication?

Always. We produce shop drawings for your review and approval before anything is cut, so profiles, reveals, dimensions, and material transitions match the design intent. It is also the moment we raise any constructability questions and propose solutions that protect the detail.

Will you come to the site for field measures?

Yes. We conduct field measures and site visits at the appropriate milestones to confirm conditions before fabrication and to coordinate installation. Accurate field dimensions are the difference between cabinetry that fits cleanly and rework on site.

How early should we bring you into a project?

As early as is useful. Involving us during design lets us offer spec assistance, constructability input, and budget-informed guidance while changes are still inexpensive—well before the drawings are final. We are glad to collaborate at whatever stage you are in.
