A Single Workshop That Serves the Whole State
PineWood Cabinets is based in Roseville, just off the I-80 corridor where the Sacramento Valley begins its climb into the Sierra foothills. From that one shop we have spent since 2006 building kitchens that end up in very different places: a foggy bungalow in San Francisco's Richmond District, a sun-baked ranch outside Healdsburg, a lakefront cabin above Tahoe's Emerald Bay, a hillside terrace in Malibu. California is not one market, it is a dozen. The proportions that feel right in a Pacific Heights flat would overwhelm a Carmel cottage; the materials that shrug off salt air in Half Moon Bay behave differently in the dry heat of Bakersfield or the freeze-thaw winters around Truckee. We treat each region on its own terms, which is why the Bay Area, the wine country of Napa Valley and Sonoma, the Monterey Peninsula and Central Coast, the Sierra and Lake Tahoe, and the coastal and canyon neighborhoods of Los Angeles and Orange County each get a dedicated page rather than a recycled template.
Geography also shapes how we work. A kitchen bound for Atherton or Hillsborough on the Peninsula is a short drive down the Capitol Corridor; one headed for La Jolla or Beverly Hills travels the length of the state. We plan logistics, site protection, and installation sequencing around that reality so that the cabinetry arrives in the same condition it left the bench, whether the address is ten minutes away in Loomis or four hundred miles south.

Why We Design for Place, Not Just for Kitchens
A kitchen is the most regional room in a California house. In the East Bay and the Peninsula, where bungalows and mid-century homes dominate, our work tends toward warm woods, clean lines, and storage that earns its keep in a tight footprint. In wine country around Napa Valley and Healdsburg, the same shop leans into natural stone, aged timber, and serious cooking infrastructure built for harvest-season entertaining.
On the coast, from Carmel and Big Sur down through the Central Coast, salt and moisture drive material and finish choices as much as taste does. In the Sierra and around Lake Tahoe, cabinetry has to live with dramatic humidity swings, woodstove heat, and the rustic-modern vocabulary of mountain homes. Southern California, from Los Angeles to Orange County, brings indoor-outdoor living and a lighter, brighter palette to the bench. None of this is interchangeable, so we do not pretend it is.
What does carry from one region to the next is method: solid joinery, hand-applied finishes, measured installation, and a refusal to let distance become an excuse for shortcuts. A statewide practice only works if the standard does not move with the zip code. Ours does not.
