For Wine Country GCs & Remodelers
Sonoma County General Contractors and Remodelers
A cabinetry and millwork subcontractor that builds in Rocklin, times every site visit to real readiness across a spread-out county, and installs farmhouse, Victorian and vineyard-estate packages with its own crews.
This page is for the general contractors and remodelers who build across Sonoma County, from Healdsburg, Geyserville and Cloverdale in the north through Santa Rosa, Windsor, Rohnert Park and Cotati to Sonoma, Glen Ellen, Kenwood, Petaluma, Sebastopol and the Russian River towns, and who want a cabinetry sub that plans the distance instead of pretending it is not there. PineWood Cabinets builds in Rocklin and travels to Sonoma County for the field measure, delivery and installation with its own crews. We work from your plans, hold fabrication behind an approval gate, and make every trip count. Homeowner-facing work for the county lives on the Sonoma County hub; this page is the contractor side.
Same gates, visits that count
The Sequence Across the County
We run the workflow on our trade process page on every job. In Sonoma County the discipline is timing: the measure, the delivery and the punch visit are each a real drive, so they are scheduled against genuine site readiness and, where you have more than one job running, grouped.
- Scope and drawings review during design. From your plans, elevations and finish schedule, before framing. We confirm the run list, the appliances and any wine storage, and raise clearance and transition questions on paper.
- Field measure after rough-in. Once framing, plumbing and electrical are stable, we measure the room as built. We ask that the rough-in be finished when we arrive, because a second measure trip is a real cost to both of us.
- Shop drawings for approval. Dimensioned, with construction, joinery, hardware and finish called out. Nothing is cut until you sign off, and approval turnaround is the biggest lever on the lead time.
- Fabrication and finishing in Rocklin. Built to the approved set and finished by hand in controlled shop conditions. Long-lead materials are ordered at approval.
- Delivery window set with your superintendent. The space must be enclosed, conditioned and ready for finish work, and the truck route to a vineyard property or a downtown lot is confirmed before the date is fixed.
- Install, then the dependent trades. Stone templating after cabinet set, final plumbing and electrical trim, flooring transitions. Book those subs against our window.
- Walk-through and punch list. Checked against the approved drawings, documented on the spot, and closed on a scheduled visit before your client walk.
We do not quote durations in the abstract. Scope, finish complexity, material availability and approval turnaround all move the schedule, and the lead-times page explains each lever. Your package timeline is confirmed at quoting and kept current as the site evolves.
Two ways to contract the package
Our Crews Install, or We Supply Only
Most Sonoma County contractors have our crews set the cabinetry. One crew is admitted to the site, communicates through your superintendent rather than around them, protects finished floors and surfaces, cleans up at the end of each day, and works the punch list to closeout. Because the drive is real, the crew arrives with the scribes, fillers and hardware a punch list usually needs.
Contractors who keep installation with their own finish carpenters can use cabinetry-only supply, which on a far-flung site can also simplify the schedule. Runs are delivered labeled to the approved shop drawings, with install elevations and hardware packed by cabinet, and we stay available for questions during the set. The model is chosen at quoting because it changes both the price and the install window.
Vineyards, downtowns and farmhouses
Job Conditions Across Sonoma County
In the north, along the Westside Road and Dry Creek corridors near Healdsburg and up Alexander Valley toward Geyserville and Cloverdale, the jobs are vineyard and estate properties with long drives, indoor-outdoor living at the center of the plan and a serious wine program. The cabinetry runs to richer hardwoods and integrated wine storage sized to the collection, which means coordinating rack geometry, cooling and lighting with your mechanical and electrical subs at the drawings review. The truck route down a vineyard lane is confirmed before the delivery date is fixed.
In the towns, the conditions are period and footprint. Petaluma keeps a protected downtown of iron-front and Victorian buildings, Sonoma gathers around its plaza, and Santa Rosa ranges from the Victorians of the McDonald Avenue district to the newer hillside homes of Fountaingrove, with Windsor, Rohnert Park and Cotati mixing established neighborhoods and newer construction. Remodels inside those footprints squeeze real storage out of the walls that are already there, so the cabinetry is built to the field measure with period-sensitive doors, profiles and hardware that read as original to the house.
To the west, in Sebastopol, Forestville and Occidental and along the lower Russian River, the housing is farmhouses, cottages and the casual rural architecture of former orchard and dairy country. Those kitchens want honest, warm woods, painted Shaker and inset doors and unfussy hardware, and the delivery is a rural drive with a carry path across a porch. Across the whole county the kitchen opens to a terrace, a porch or a garden, so door and transition details are coordinated with your exterior trades. Permits are yours as the general contractor; our approved shop drawings support whatever your submittal requires.
What we need from the GC
- A decision-maker for shop-drawing approval, treated as a milestone, not a floating task.
- Confirmed appliance cut sheets, wine storage intent and a locked finish schedule before drawings are issued.
- A finished rough-in before we measure, and an enclosed, conditioned space before we deliver.
- The truck route and carry path, whether that is a vineyard lane, a downtown alley or a farmhouse porch.
- Early word on slips, because a wasted trip across the county costs both of us a day.
Two different install days
Occupied Farmhouses and Estate Builds
A remodel in a Sebastopol farmhouse or a Petaluma Victorian usually happens with the family living around the work, and these are households that genuinely cook, preserve and bake, so the days without a kitchen matter. We confirm the carry path through the house, protect floors and finished rooms along it, stage cabinets so the kitchen is blocked for as few days as possible, and book the stone template for as soon as the cabinets are set. Because the drive from Rocklin is real, the measure and the install are each one well-timed trip rather than a series of short visits.
An estate build above Dry Creek or in the Valley of the Moon is a sequencing problem instead, often for owners who live where they work and have weeks when the property cannot take a delivery. We ask you to tell us those weeks early. Cabinetry that arrives before the house is enclosed and conditioned sits exposed; cabinetry that arrives late stalls the finish trades. We stay in contact through rough-in so the delivery date tracks real readiness, and when the site slips we re-sequence rather than send a truck across the county to a room that is not ready. One point of contact carries the job from the first drawings review to the last punch item.
Kitchen, pantry, wine, baths and millwork
Scope on a Wine Country House
Sonoma County kitchens are working rooms, and the package usually extends beyond them. Generous pantry and prep storage, wine rooms and integrated wine storage, bath vanities, mudroom custom storage and the architectural millwork of an estate great room can all come from one shop, built to one standard, on one delivery. That is one truck to route across the county, one crew to admit and one punch list to close.
PineWood Cabinets was founded in 2006 and operates as the cabinetry division of Voronenko & Ethen Associates, a licensed California contractor (CSLB #1095293). Coverage on the work is whatever our written trade terms state, nothing promised verbally on site. If you build anywhere in Sonoma County, send the plans, the site access and the target dates through our contact page or call +1-650-855-2231, and we will return a timeline and a visit plan built for the distance.
Distance, wine rooms and closeout
Sonoma County Contractor FAQ
How do you manage site visits across a county this spread out?
By making each one count. Healdsburg, Petaluma and the Russian River are a long way apart and all of them are a drive from Rocklin, so the field measure is timed for when rough-in is genuinely finished, the delivery is set for when the space is enclosed and conditioned, and the punch-list visit is scheduled rather than improvised. Where you have more than one job running, we group visits.
When do you need the field measure on a Sonoma remodel?
After framing, plumbing and electrical rough-in are stable. The Victorians and Craftsman homes of Petaluma, Sonoma and the McDonald Avenue district in Santa Rosa, and the western-county farmhouses, rarely match their drawings, so cabinetry is built to the measured room. Measuring before the rough-in is finished means measuring twice.
Can you coordinate a conditioned wine room with our mechanical sub?
Yes. On the vineyard and estate jobs around Healdsburg, Kenwood and the Sonoma Valley, integrated wine storage is drawn into the shop drawings with the rack geometry and the clearances your mechanical and electrical subs need, so the cooling, lighting and vapor details are reconciled on paper before the room is framed out.
Do you install, or can our carpenters set the cabinetry?
Either. Our own crews install on most Sonoma County jobs, coordinated through your superintendent. Cabinetry-only supply is available if you keep installation in-house: runs arrive labeled to the approved shop drawings with install elevations and hardware packed by cabinet. The model is chosen at quoting because it changes the price and the install window.
What do you need before you cut material?
Approved shop drawings, final field dimensions from the site measure, confirmed appliance cut sheets and a locked finish schedule. Nothing is fabricated until the drawings are signed off, and approval turnaround is the single biggest lever a contractor has on the lead time.
How is the punch list closed on a job two hours from your shop?
A walk-through checks the installed work against the approved drawings and punch items are documented on the spot. Because a return trip is real, the crew carries the scribes, fillers and hardware a punch list usually needs, and the remaining items are closed on a scheduled visit before your client walk. One point of contact carries it from shop drawings to closeout.
