Design concept for custom cabinetry and wine-room millwork in a Sonoma County wine country home

For Sonoma County Builders, GCs & Rebuild Contractors

Cabinetry & Millwork for Builders in Sonoma County

A spec-driven cabinetry, wine-room and architectural millwork partner for the builders, general contractors and design firms working Santa Rosa’s rebuild neighborhoods, the wine-country estates and the county’s plaza and river towns.

Sonoma County building is not one market but several. In Santa Rosa, the neighborhoods rebuilt after the 2017 Tubbs Fire are still absorbing new construction on hillside and valley-floor lots. Along the Russian River bench lands near Healdsburg, in the Alexander Valley and in the Valley of the Moon, estate homes sit among vineyards and oak savanna. Petaluma, Sonoma and the McDonald Avenue district in Santa Rosa hold period houses that have to be remodeled on their own terms, and the west county around Sebastopol, Forestville and Occidental is farmhouses, cottages and redwood-shaded river homes. PineWood Cabinets works as a cabinetry and millwork partner to the builders, general contractors and designers delivering all of it, with casework that fits both the architecture and the schedule.

Rebuilds, estates, period towns and the west county

Building Context Across the County

Santa Rosa rebuild neighborhoods. Fountaingrove and Coffey Park were rebuilt as new construction: open floor plans, fire-resistant construction, high-performance envelopes and a renewed attention to the quality of every material in the house. For cabinetry that means full-height storage walls, islands scaled to open-plan living and clean-lined casework in warm natural species, built from approved drawings and delivered once the space is enclosed and conditioned. Skyhawk and the newer hillside homes on the city’s eastern edge take the same approach.

Wine-estate homes. On the Westside Road and Dry Creek corridors, in the Alexander Valley and between Glen Ellen and Kenwood, the kitchen is planned around views, long tables and the flow to a terrace, and wine is never far from scope. Cellars, tasting nooks and wine rooms demand millwork built for a controlled environment, coordinated with the mechanical and insulation scope. Richer hardwoods, stone and integrated wine storage sized to a serious collection are the norm here.

Plaza and river towns. Petaluma’s protected downtown of iron-front and Victorian buildings, the adobes and Craftsman homes off Sonoma’s eight-acre plaza, and the Queen Anne, Colonial Revival and Craftsman houses of the McDonald Avenue Historic District all reward cabinetry that reads as original to the house. Inset doors, matched profiles and period-sensitive paneling carry the character while modern storage and appliance integration sit behind them.

The west county. Sebastopol, Forestville, Occidental and the Russian River communities around Guerneville were orchards and dairies before they were wine country, and the housing shows it: farmhouses, cottages and casual rural architecture under redwoods. The palette runs to honest, warm woods, painted Shaker and inset doors and unfussy hardware, built to take real daily use.

Jurisdiction, Codes & Community Review

Permits are the builder’s. Inside Santa Rosa city limits that means the City of Santa Rosa permitting process, and the rebuild neighborhoods in the wildland-urban interface carry the updated WUI building codes your plans already address, along with community review where a homeowners association such as Fountaingrove’s applies. Our scope is interior casework built to your approved drawings and finish schedule; we do not add a second review layer to the project. The Sonoma County permits and process guide describes the sequence from the owner’s side.

Documented, sequenced, accountable

How We Work With the Trade Here

  • Spec-driven. We build from your plans and finish schedule; shop drawings are produced and approved before fabrication. Our specifications describe the construction standard.
  • Rebuild-ready. Casework for new construction delivered once the space is enclosed and conditioned, sequenced with your other finish trades.
  • Cellar-aware. Wine-room and cellar millwork built to suit the project’s climate strategy, coordinated with your mechanical scope.
  • Field-coordinated. Precise measurement and installation by our own crews, integrated with your schedule. The sequence is on our trade process page.
  • Accountable. A licensed California shop (CSLB #1095293) with one point of contact from shop drawing to walkthrough.

Kitchen, cellar and the rest of the house

Scope That Matters for Sonoma County Builds

The kitchen anchors most of the work, but a rebuild or an estate is finished as a whole house: bespoke cabinetry throughout, architectural millwork for beams, mantels and casework, custom storage for mudrooms and pantries that take a boxful of garden produce, and libraries, closets and offices. One shop delivering all of it keeps construction and finish consistent from the kitchen to the guest quarters.

Scheduled trips, access planned in advance

Delivery & Installation From Rocklin

We fabricate and finish at our Rocklin shop and deliver into Sonoma County for installation by our own crews. Because the county is spread out, each trip is scheduled rather than ad hoc: vineyard drives and gated estates near Healdsburg, hillside rebuild lots in Fountaingrove, narrow west-county and river roads, and staging inside a tight Petaluma or Sonoma remodel all get worked into the delivery plan with your superintendent before fabrication finishes. Lead times are confirmed at quoting; our lead-times page explains what moves them. Founded in 2006 and operating as the cabinetry division of Voronenko & Ethen Associates, we run a design-build model under one roof, so the team that draws the work stands behind it. Reach us through our contact page to talk through plans and timeline.

Questions builders and GCs ask

Trade FAQ — Sonoma County

Do you partner with builders and general contractors in Sonoma County?

Yes. Our Sonoma County work runs through the trade: custom home builders, general contractors, rebuild contractors and the design firms working in Santa Rosa, Healdsburg, Windsor, Sonoma, Petaluma, Sebastopol and the Russian River towns. We build to your plans, produce shop drawings for approval, and coordinate delivery and installation around your build sequence.

Do you work on fire-rebuild homes in Fountaingrove and Coffey Park?

Yes. The homes rebuilt in Fountaingrove and Coffey Park after the 2017 Tubbs Fire are new construction with open floor plans, fire-resistant construction and high-performance envelopes, and they take cabinetry the way any new build does: from approved drawings, delivered once the space is enclosed and conditioned. Your plans carry the WUI code requirements and any community review; our scope is the interior casework built to those plans.

Can you build wine rooms and cellar millwork for estate projects?

Yes. For the vineyard and estate homes along the Westside Road and Dry Creek corridors near Healdsburg, in the Alexander Valley and in the Valley of the Moon around Glen Ellen and Kenwood, we build cellar racking and wine-room millwork designed around the project’s climate strategy, coordinated with your mechanical and insulation scope rather than treated as ordinary casework.

How do you handle the period homes in Petaluma, Sonoma and the McDonald Avenue district?

From your drawings and the house itself. Petaluma’s downtown Victorians, the adobes and Craftsman homes off the Sonoma plaza and the Queen Anne, Colonial Revival and Craftsman houses of Santa Rosa’s McDonald Avenue Historic District each call for profiles, inset doors and finishes that read as original to the house while the storage and appliance integration behind them is current. Where a profile must match existing millwork, we sample it before fabrication.

What lead times should Sonoma County builders plan for?

Cabinetry sits on the critical path, so we provide a project-specific timeline at quoting and flag long-lead species and finishes early. The biggest lever you control is shop-drawing approval turnaround, because fabrication does not begin until drawings are approved; the second is delivering final field dimensions and appliance specs on time. Our lead-times page explains what drives the schedule.

Do you deliver and install into Sonoma County from Rocklin?

Yes. We fabricate and finish at our Rocklin shop and our own crews deliver and install throughout Sonoma County. Because installation is a scheduled trip rather than a local drop, access is planned with your superintendent before fabrication finishes: vineyard drives and gated estates, hillside rebuild lots, narrow west-county and river roads, and staging inside a tight in-town remodel.
