Bespoke Cabinetry for the Nevada Shore of Lake Tahoe
Custom Kitchens in Incline Village, NV
Incline Village sits on the quiet northeast corner of Lake Tahoe, where granite, pine, and 6,200 feet of altitude shape how a home is built and lived in. PineWood Cabinets designs and hand-builds complete custom kitchens engineered for that setting.
A Bespoke Kitchen Built for Incline Village
Incline Village is unlike anywhere else on Lake Tahoe. Developed beginning in the 1960s on the lake's northeast shore in Washoe County, Nevada, it is a planned community of forested lots that climb from the waterline up toward the slopes of Diamond Peak. The homes here run from mid-century A-frames and 1970s cedar chalets along Lakeshore Boulevard to substantial new builds on the ridges above Country Club Drive, and almost all of them share the same priorities: views of the lake, resilience against deep snow, and interiors that feel warm when the thermometer outside reads well below freezing.
A custom kitchen is the most demanding cabinetry project a home can ask for, because it has to perform as hard as it looks. PineWood Cabinets has been designing and hand-building complete kitchens since 2006, and we treat an Incline Village kitchen as a single commission: layout, cabinetry, islands, pantry systems, and the millwork that ties them to the room are all drawn, built, and installed by one team rather than stitched together from stock boxes.
That matters at 6,200 feet. The dry alpine air, the swing between a frozen January night and a bright August afternoon, and the simple reality of getting materials up Highway 431 or around the lake on Highway 28 all influence how a kitchen should be built. We design for the place, not for a catalog.

What a Full Custom Kitchen Includes
A bespoke build is more than a run of cabinets. For Incline Village homes we shape the entire working room around how you cook, how you host, and how a Tahoe house actually gets used through the seasons.
Layout & Space Planning
We start from the room and the views, not from a standard grid, planning circulation so a cook and a crowd of guests are never fighting for the same square foot during a Diamond Peak ski weekend.
- • View-first window and sink placement
- • Work-triangle and traffic studies
- • Island and seating geometry
- • Sightlines to the great room
Hand-Built Cabinetry & Joinery
Every cabinet is built in our shop with dovetailed drawers, full-extension hardware, and finishes chosen to hold their color in the strong high-altitude light that pours into a lakeside room.
- • Solid-wood face frames and doors
- • Dovetailed drawer boxes
- • UV-stable, durable finishes
- • Custom paneling for appliances
Storage Engineered for Tahoe Life
A second-home or short-term rental kitchen near the lake needs to swallow a lot of gear. We build generous, organized storage so a full house of skiers and paddleboarders never overruns the counters.
- • Deep walk-in or wall pantry systems
- • Bulk and small-appliance storage
- • Mudroom and drop-zone millwork
- • Hidden trash, recycling, and bear-aware storage
Islands & Gathering Space
In Incline Village homes the kitchen island is where après-ski conversations and lake-day lunches happen. We design islands that anchor the room and seat the people in it.
- • Oversized prep and serving islands
- • Integrated seating and outlets
- • Mixed-material tops and waterfall ends
- • Secondary prep sinks
Appliance & Wine Integration
We build paneled enclosures and dedicated zones for professional ranges, undercounter wine and beverage units, and the warming and ventilation gear that high-altitude entertaining calls for.
- • Integrated panel-ready appliances
- • Undercounter wine and beverage zones
- • Concealed ventilation millwork
- • Coffee and bar stations
Material & Finish Selection
Walnut, alder, rift-cut oak, and painted maple all read differently against pine forest and granite. We help you choose woods, stones, and hardware that suit the architecture of your specific home.
- • Domestic and exotic hardwood options
- • Painted, stained, and natural finishes
- • Stone and quartz countertop coordination
- • Hardware and lighting selection
How We Build a Custom Kitchen on the Nevada Shore
A bespoke commission is a sequence, not a single transaction. Here is how an Incline Village project moves from a first walkthrough to a finished kitchen.
On-Site Discovery
We visit the home, measure the existing kitchen, study the views and light, and talk through how you cook and host at altitude before a single line is drawn.
Design & Specification
You receive a tailored layout, material and finish samples, and detailed 3D renderings so you can see the room before we commit anything to wood.
Shop Fabrication
Your cabinetry is hand-built and finished in our shop, then dry-fit and inspected before it ever makes the trip up to the lake.
Installation & Walkthrough
We install on site, coordinate with your countertop and appliance trades, and finish with a full walkthrough so every drawer and door operates the way it should.
Built for the Way Incline Village Homes Live
Incline Village is a community of contrasts. A lakefront home along Lakeshore Boulevard, a fairway house near the Championship Course, and a ridge build above Ponderosa Ranch Road all face different challenges, and a custom kitchen is where those differences show up most clearly.
Many of these homes are second residences or are rented seasonally, which means a kitchen has to look immaculate but survive heavy, intermittent use by big groups. Snow load and a long heating season put a premium on tight construction and finishes that will not check or fade. And the simple geography of the place, tucked between the lake and the Mount Rose Highway, rewards a builder who plans the logistics of a project rather than improvising them.
We design with all of that in mind, and we extend the same approach to the neighboring communities along the north shore, from Crystal Bay just over the rise to Kings Beach and Tahoe Vista on the California side.
View-Driven Layouts
We orient sinks, seating, and low cabinetry to protect the lake and Diamond Peak views that define why people build here in the first place.
Altitude-Ready Construction
Dry-air-stable joinery and durable finishes hold up to the wide temperature swings of a 6,200-foot alpine home.
Hosting Capacity
Generous storage and gathering-scaled islands keep a full house of family and guests comfortable from ski mornings to late dinners.
Custom Kitchen Questions from Incline Village Homeowners
A few of the things north-shore homeowners ask us most often about a bespoke build.
Do you build the cabinetry yourselves, or order it in?
A custom kitchen from PineWood is genuinely bespoke. We design the layout, then hand-build the cabinetry, islands, and millwork in our own shop using solid-wood components, dovetailed drawer boxes, and finishes we apply in house. Nothing about your Incline Village kitchen is a stock box dressed up with new doors.
Does the altitude and climate really change how a kitchen is built?
It does. The dry air and large temperature swings at Lake Tahoe's elevation can stress poorly built cabinetry, so we use construction methods and finishes chosen to stay stable in those conditions. We also plan around real Tahoe realities like deep storage for gear, durable surfaces for heavy seasonal use, and tidy, well-sealed waste storage.
We use the home seasonally. Can you manage a project remotely?
Yes. Many of our north-shore clients are not on site full time. We document the existing space carefully during discovery, share renderings and material samples so decisions can be made from a distance, and coordinate the on-site work around your schedule and the home's access so the kitchen is ready when you return.
How long does a full custom kitchen take?
Every commission is different, but a full custom kitchen generally moves through design, shop fabrication, and installation over a span of several weeks to a few months depending on the size of the room, material lead times, and how the work coordinates with your countertop and appliance trades. We give you a realistic schedule for your specific project before fabrication begins.
